Busy As A Bee Making Stockings

I have learned from past mistakes, that one can never be too early or prepared for the holidays. Sooo, I have decided to start early this year and be ready for a wonderful holiday season.
I thought I would show you the first of 5 of my completed stockings.
I hope you enjoy what I have created so far this year.

Vintage crochet work as well as vintage buttons and a cute ornie at the top.

This image is probably one of my most favorites. I love the look of these Victorian ladies. Vintage lace was used also.

More vintage buttons and lace, along with another beautiful image of Victorian ladies dressed up in fashionable clothing.

A New Creation

A customer of mine wanted a pillow made using this romantic and Victorian fabric. She wasn't sure if she wanted a roll pillow like the one pictured here, or a square pillow.
It didn't matter to me because I think both are beautiful. After both were made, she choose the square pillow.

Aren't they just lovely!  Dressed in the finest of lace, fabrics and hats. What a beautiful time they are having.

I like to embellish the sides of my roll pillows using ribbons, florals and in this case, pearls.

Mon Petit Coeur Francaise

I am in the process of creating some sweet ornaments in the shape of hearts. I will be selling these in sets of threes in my Etsy shop. This set will have a shabby French theme. Made of tissue paper over a hard cardboard shape, then decorated,  I did a tutorial on how to make them on my personal blog,
Someplace In Thyme.

This is the first finished heart. I am in the process of creating two more before listing them for sale. I hope you will give this EASY tutorial a try. It's fun and great for the children too. I think they will be perfect as ornaments and for decorating gifts.

Pincushions For Everyday Use or For Collecting Too

If you like to sew, you know this is a necessity. I can't imagine not having a pincushion handy by my sewing machine and also on my work bench.

We have come a long way since the red tomato pincushions that our grandmothers and mothers used. Even as I say that, you can still purchase those little red pincushions everywhere sewing items are sold.
I think I prefer the pretty pincushions that are made today by so many talented artists.

Today you can find all colors and shapes of pincushions to choose from. You don't have to sew to enjoy collecting these pretty keepsakes. All you have to do is enjoy their beauty.

I prefer a strawberry pincushion or a pumpkin shaped pincushion because I think you can do so much to decorate them. I have seen cushions in the shapes of animals, and they are adorable, but I don't think roses, ribbons and bling do much for a cat. Ha.

Please don't get me wrong, I love the artistry of animal pincushions and the talent it takes to make them. But, I prefer to get my hands in ribbons and roses, along with some buttons and rhinestones, that's just my preference.

So the next time you find an interesting and beautiful pincushion, take a good look and enjoy what this little gem has to offer you.

My New Livre Francaise

I am so inspired by the French tissue paper I bought at my scrapbooking store. I just love this and am going to be bringing you some very cute things to share.
My latest creation is this sweet book (made of hard cardboard) that I covered in the tissue paper on the outside. I only used the tissue on the outside where it can be seen. I painted the inside of this book box.

I  covered this tag, added some lace at the bottom and a rose at the top. Perfect to go with the book.

Vintage lace, some roses, vintage buttons and a key, what more could a girl ask for? I know, how about a trip to Paris??!!

I am going to put this sweetness in my etsy shop, SomeplaceInTime.

Parlez-Vous Francais?

I think I may need a trip to Paris, because it's been on my mind now for quite some time. My creative juices are leaning that way and I don't seem to be able to stop myself.
I came across this wonderful glass bottle with a metal base. (The bottle comes out of the base)
This was screaming to be something shabby and very french. I think I nailed this one on the head! : )

I took the base and some gorgeous french tissue paper along with my favorite medium, Modge Podge, and look how beautiful this is. A collage of tissue paper covers the base and does it well too.

Now, if you know anything about me at all, you know my love of tags. I took some of the tissue and created a collage on this tag, making this a very sweet set.

This is an open bottle, there is no top. I decorated the neck of the bottle with vintage lace, seam binding ribbons, a beautiful key and a rose. There is a vintage clothspin at the top with a little vintage looking clock on the front. Very shabby and very french.
I can see this used as a place to hold pencils or pens. I also think it would be lovely just sitting on a desk or table. What a lovely gift too.

Cake Under Glass

Marty from a Stroll Thru Life brought to my attention the beauty of the "Cloche." I have always noticed this lovely work of art, but never really paid any attention to the possibilities of using one.
The ideas are endless, just use your imagination.
I created this yummy little slice of cake just for displaying on this pedestal cloche. I think it looks perfect, and just like all my other treats, this is fat free, calorie free and sugar free. You would never know by looking at her. : )

I think the addition of faux pearls adds the certain touch that creates some magic. I also started making my own clay roses and adding those as well.

Yummy! Looks good enough to eat.

The cloche can be on or off. Looks so good with or without the top. Serve this was and use the glass cloche for something else that's fabulous.
